  1. Kelp

*Cue flashback to your last sushi roll* 

Far from its unassuming appearance, Kelp is a real superhero when it comes to supporting detoxification. That’s right, this natural seaweed, which is found in shallow seawater, is packed with lipids, proteins, vitamins, minerals and nutrients to encourage the body to flush toxins.

Although you can ingest kelp in raw or cooked preparations, or in supplement form, this ingredient also dramatically boosts hydration levels and circulation when applied to the skin.

  1. Spirulina

You may remember this one from the great Spirulina craze of 2009. 

Toxins interfere with the body’s ability to digest food and absorb key nutrients. Due to this, the skin can have a lacklustre, dull appearance if a build-up of toxins is present in the body.

A known super-ingredient, Spirulina helps to boost radiance by dramatically detoxifying. Furthermore, this clever marine ingredient helps to support the immune system and is rich in antioxidant-filled chlorophyll* to protect the skin from free radical damage.

*Hot Tip: To supercharge the lymphatic system, which plays a crucial role in our body’s detoxification, we would recommend incorporating liquid chlorophyll into your diet.

  1. Ginger 

Boasting an abundance of brilliant benefits, Ginger can be taken in multiple different ways; including ingestion. We would recommend making tea out of finely-chopped Ginger and sipping throughout the day to support digestion and eliminate accumulated toxins in the body. Our tip: use fresh Ginger rather than dried or powdered for best results.

Ginger also helps to relieve pain or stiffness by relieving toxin build up in the joints.

  1. Juniper

Possibly lesser known, but just as wonderful, is Juniper Oil. Derived from the Juniper Berry (which is, funnily enough, used to distil gin), this natural oil reduces levels of uric acid in the body (high levels of accumulated uric acid can cause pain and inflammation around the joints and in soft tissue). Juniper also helps to relieve the appearance of cellulite and promote circulation.

NB: Do not use this essential oil neat or in high concentrations unless under the guidance of a qualified aromatherapist.
