Everyone is searching for the elusive glow that comes from a flawless complexion and fresh, healthy skin.

A large part of achieving that glow comes from the specialised touch of a skincare professional, but the benefits of these treatments can be carried through at home between spa visits.

We spoke to Bodhi J manager Tegan Hall about her recommendations for regular at-home skin and body care, and the importance of taking ‘me time’ from a busy schedule.

“Regular professional face and body treatments are key, but the products and skincare techniques used at home are equally important: if an at-home routine is lacking, professional treatments will only serve to repair damage, rather than delivering their full benefits,” Tegan says.

“When you use healthy, nutrient rich products daily you are constantly boosting your skin and filling it will healthy vitamins that leave it plumped and fresh.”

A huge part of looking good is feeling good, and Tegan says at-home pampering is one of the best ways to feel refreshed, relaxed and ready to take on the world.

“Using beautiful products at home takes us back to the feelings of deep relaxation in a spa, helps to improve the condition of the skin, and helps to boost and extend the results of professional treatments,” Tegan says.

Create-Your-own-spa-at-home(3)“The absolute most important place to start is a good face cleanser and moisturiser – if these are not good then nothing we pop on after will help! The cleanser is the key: without a rich, creamy hydrating cleanser you are stripping the natural pH level in the skin so anything that goes on after will be healing what a cleanser has removed. Your skin should feel fresh and dewy after cleansing, not tight and squeaky. My absolute favourite is Sodashi’s Clay Cleanser with Sandalwood – it’s amazing!”

Tegan says the process of treating yourself to an at-home spa treatment allows for complete ‘you time’, and it’s important to schedule this time uninterrupted, just for yourself.

“There is nothing better than at the end of the week sitting back in the bathtub with a glass of wine, your book and your favourite products. For me, this is the only way I can handle life,” she says.

“Just imagine, your favourite scented candle burning in the background, and a warm bath full of bubbles and essential oils to ease tired muscles. Apply Sodashi Brightening Marine Mineral Mask – it leaves your skin fresh and vibrant – and sit back and relax while the mask works its magic. To finish, pop out of the bath and massage a gorgeous body oil into the skin, to rehydrate the skin and relax the mind and body. These oils leave the skin smooth and silky hydrated, never oily or clammy.”

Tegan says that creating an at-home spa shouldn’t require hundreds of products or a huge amount of effort.

“It doesn’t take a lot to create a perfect at-home pamper zone! Start small and add a new product each month,” she says.

“Remember to treat yourself! This is the MOST important part of the process – taking care of you.”
